BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny), the I Ching and Korean folk fortunes side by side with Western astrology, tarot and numerology. Enter your birth date once and see East and West together.
Eight Mansions feng shui (八宅) gives each person a Kua number based on the year of birth and sex at birth. The Kua number places you in the East Group or the West Group and assigns four favourable and four unfavourable directions, which traditional practitioners use to arrange a bed, a desk or a front door.
The birth year is counted from the Beginning of Spring, as in BaZi. Your Kua number gives your personal trigram, and the eight directions are read from it: Sheng Qi (vitality), Tian Yi (health), Yan Nian (relationships) and Fu Wei (stability) are the favourable ones. You can enter your home’s facing direction to see how it matches your directions.
Feng shui is a traditional design philosophy. Simple, low-cost changes — which way your desk faces, where you place a lamp — are the usual starting point. It is not a substitute for building, safety or health advice.
